Following the exciting news regarding the opening of the new Hucknall Flying High Academy in Hucknall, we are delighted to be able to confirm key dates for parents, families and the wider community to find out more!

Hucknall Flying High Academy - key dates for families and the community!

The brand new primary school, Hucknall Flying High Academy is due to open September 2019. Parents and families will be able to apply for places through Nottinghamshire County Council, with the admissions window opening on the 5th of November.

To enable families and the wider community to find out more, Flying High will be hosting several meetings - please see below for key dates. If you would like to attend please email office@hucknallfha.co.uk along with your name and the year group(s) you are interested in. If you would like to be added to our mailing list to receive all information relating to the new school please let us know.

Key dates and meetings:

Tuesday 2 October - welcome meeting for all potential parents, families and members of the community. This is a chance for the Trust to share our vision for the new school and most importantly for the community to share with the Trust any questions and to share your hopes for the new school - we want to ensure the school meets the needs of the community, so your voice is key to this being achieved!

There will be two meetings on this date, 1-2:30pm and then the meeting will be repeated 6-7:30pm. 

Venue: Rolls Royce Leisure, The Pavilion, Watnall Road, NG15 6EP - parking available on site at the main car park. 


Tuesday 20 November - Meet the Head teacher of Hucknall Flying High Academy and the formal consultation meeting. During October the Trust will be recruiting the new Headteacher - we are delighted to say that even with a couple of weeks to go there has been huge interest in the role with strong individuals passionate about the prospect of recruiting outstanding staff to a new school! Following recruitment this will be the first opportunity for the community to hear from the new Head teacher. This will also be the formal consultation meeting where the Trust takes feedback on key decisions for the school.

There will be two meetings on this date, 1-2:30pm and then the meeting will be repeated 6-7:30pm.

Tuesday 12 February 2019 - Update meeting. Your chance to hear of further updates and key appointments within the school.

Tuesday 21 May - Official meeting for those families offered places in the new school. Nottinghamshire County Council will have informed all school places by 19 April. This will be the first meeting for all parents and families offered places to find out key information e.g. uniforms, school meals, meet with teachers and find out further details regarding induction activities to help children get to know the staff and school prior to September.

Week commencing 10 June 2019 - Induction sessions for new children - dates, times and venue to be confirmed.
