Cotgrave Candleby Lane school host a big family breakfast!

Children at Cotgrave Candleby Lane School have been enjoying a Big Family Breakfast joined by families and friends.

Pupils and their families were invited to arrive in time for a breakfast provided by school and served up by the CEO and Deputy CEO of the school’s multi academy trust, The Flying High Partnership.

Parent Amy Knight attended and said, “I have a boy who is in Year 3 and a girl in foundation at the school. We were happy to come to the big breakfast because it was a good opportunity to spend time with everybody, my children’s friends and their families. It has been so difficult during the pandemic and we haven’t really been able to meet some of the new teachers properly, so it has been really nice being here and getting a chance to speak to everyone.

“The food has been really good too and it is nice to see the CEO of the Trust serving the breakfasts! We have seen his face on the front of the building, and I think it’s great that he is here serving breakfasts, you don’t really see that sort of thing do you?”

Pupil Kayden Wilson age 10 attended and said, “I thought the breakfast was great. I have my mum and my sister here and I really enjoyed my sausage cob!” Fellow pupil Billy Harling-Knight aged 8 agreed, “I have enjoyed today’s breakfast because the sausages were very good!”

Nikki Corlett has two children at Cotgrave Candleby Lane School and said, “I think it is nice to be here to support the school and it’s something really nice for the kids and families to get involved in. My children were very excited to be able to come in and have breakfast with all of their friends.”

CEO of The Flying High Partnership, Chris Wheatley said, “It was a great morning working alongside my Deputy CEO, Paul Goodman, to serve food at the Cotgrave Candleby Lane Big Breakfast. I am absolutely certain that we are not as quick or as skilled as the school’s regular serving staff, but we were both honoured to be of small service to the school community. It was so well attended by children and their families that we want to say a huge thank you to everyone that supported the event.”

Patrick Betts is Deputy Head Teacher at the school and said, “Our Big Family Breakfast was a great success and it was fantastic seeing all of our families enjoying time together with their children. Our kitchen staff as always did a stellar job in providing the food and we had many compliments from families on how the morning went. We want to say thank you to everyone that made the morning possible, and to our pupils and their families for making it such a joyous start to the day.”
