It can be nerve-wracking applying for a primary school place for your child, especially for the first time, but visiting the school in person can provide invaluable information about the educational environment and assist your decision-making.

Each primary school has its own unique ethos, teaching style, and values. By stepping inside the school, you can:

  • Meet the Staff
  • Learn about the curriculum
  • Learn about teaching methods
  • Understand the admissions and application process
  • Connect with other families

The first step in applying for your child’s primary school place is to visit the primary school. These are great opportunities for you to learn more about the school and see if it fits your child’s needs. You can find details about upcoming events by visiting the school’s website, via social media or contacting the school office.

Take a look at our top tips for visiting school open days. These are also things to consider if you carry out an informal visit, which many primary schools, including all of our Flying High schools actively encourage, especially if you cannot attend a formal open day.
