Greythorn Primary School pupil Deslie Yeung (age 9) is celebrating with her school pals after hearing her design has made it on to the official t-shirt for the Robin Hood Mini-Marathon, to take place on 29th September this year.

Deslie said she is excited at the news, “I feel really pleased and proud because I won the t-shirt design contest! It’s so exciting to think that all the people in the race will be wearing my shirt. I want to say a big thank you to my family, friends, and teachers for helping me come up with great ideas and for cheering me on!”

Deslie says her design was inspired by her family. “I came up with my design when my mum asked me who I would want to run with if I could choose anyone, and I said I wanted to run with my dad.  So, I used that idea to make a picture of a big shoe and a small shoe, -that’s me and my dad or a child and an adult taking part in the race.”

Head teacher at Greythorn Primary School is Tae Carpenter who said the whole school community is delighted for Deslie. “We are truly thrilled and extremely proud of Deslie for winning the Robin Hood mini-marathon t-shirt design competition. Participants in the upcoming mini marathon will wear the design with pride. Congratulations to Deslie on this remarkable accomplishment! We’re excited to see your design t-shirt worn by everyone in September!”
