What is the RISE universal offer?


Regional Improvement for Standards and Excellence (RISE) is a DfE programme that aims to support their goal of raising standards for all children in all schools across the country.

RISE provides support at 2 levels;

  • universal support to help all schools improve
  • targeted interventions for eligible schools

We are delighted that Flying High CEO Chris Wheatley is a RISE advisor and two of our schools have been designated as Lead Schools in two of the key priority themes.

  • Cotgrave Candleby Lane School, Notts – Reception Network Lead School
  • Hollingwood Primary School, Chesterfield – Attendance and Behaviour Hub

Cotgrave Candleby Lane School - Reception Network Lead School


Cotgrave Candleby Lane School are proud to be a DfE designated RISE Reception Network Lead School. They work together with schools from across the region to strengthen Reception provision and help more children feel confident and ready to thrive, contributing to the national aim for 75% of children to achieve a Good Level of Development by 2028.

As a Lead School, they are a regional centre of expertise by sharing effective practice, building professional networks and contributing to national early years development. Their offer includes high-quality resources, half-termly virtual network meetings and termly in-person visits and open days, working closely with national hubs to promote consistency and quality across early years provision.

Hollingwood Primary School- Attendance and Behaviour Hub


Hollingwood Primary School in Chesterfield is a designated RISE Attendance and Behaviour Hub in the East Midlands. They provide support and guidance to other schools on improving attendance and behaviour through shared practice and strong supportive systems.

Their offer includes in-person visits and termly open days, and for those who require it, a more enhanced bespoke offer of support.
